[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign.
[00:00:06] Speaker B: This is the emg podcast.
Okay. We are back for the final installment of.
What are we calling this?
[00:00:23] Speaker A: Your prep. It's wedding prep.
[00:00:24] Speaker B: It's wedding prep. And we've been giving this to you in time segments. What to do at 15 months out, what to do at six months out. And this is the week.
So these are the top five things that you need to be doing, considering and getting ready for on the week of your wedding.
[00:00:40] Speaker A: We are here. We are here. So let's take a deep breath real quick.
And we're gonna just slow it down because these things are very manageable. But we're gonna do things in specific order so that you can enjoy this entire week. Because the week leading up to it, I gotta say, it could be really great or it could be chaotic. Correct?
[00:00:59] Speaker B: Yeah. So first thing is to try to avoid chaos. Number one, avoid and try to limit major changes. My question for you is what constitutes a major change?
[00:01:12] Speaker A: There's a lot of things I would say a major change is that, hey, we're no longer doing the ceremony here or we just added a ceremony or we're adding a service where that they didn't have.
[00:01:22] Speaker B: Right.
[00:01:22] Speaker A: Like things that have to do particularly
[00:01:24] Speaker B: with us or big time shifts.
[00:01:25] Speaker A: Yeah, big time shifts. Like, hey, we told you the timeline was 6 to 10, but now it's 8 to 12.
You know that those are major changes.
[00:01:31] Speaker B: Yeah. So you want to try to limit that. And of course, if you've listened to our one to three month out episode, the better planned you are there, the less likely you are to have major changes week up.
[00:01:41] Speaker A: And the reason why is because we just, at this point we may not be able to accommodate that. Now we try our best to be able to accommodate, like, accommodate the small changes. Right. Which hey, my first dance song change. It's a dj, right? That's very easy. We'll pull up a different track, things like that. Like Ashley did, she changed her first dance the day before.
[00:01:59] Speaker B: Very cool.
[00:01:59] Speaker A: That was very nice. It ended up being a better song.
[00:02:01] Speaker B: So communicate. This is point number two is communicate. Any last minute updates?
Not major changes, but updates.
[00:02:10] Speaker A: This happened to us this week though. I think with our wedding.
There's an extra speech or something like that.
[00:02:16] Speaker B: Exactly. So I was actually going to say that was my. So actually let me blend into number three, which is you need to complete your final vendor check in for us on the EMG side. That means a week of call. We typically do these on Mondays or Tuesdays where your event lead will call you to run through everything and that is a wonderful opportunity to communicate any last minute, you know, changes or updates. So I spoke with our couple for this week on Monday, confirmed everything and then on Tuesday got an email from them. Hey, Mike, we actually decided we want to say a quick thank you. So after our speeches, we going to add in a 30 to 60 second, like us saying thank you. That's a minor change.
Totally fine. They communicated it to me. We'll be ready for it.
[00:02:57] Speaker A: Yeah. And all communication's happening via email at that point. Right.
[00:03:00] Speaker B: Because we need everything in writing so that nothing slips through the cracks.
[00:03:03] Speaker A: Big time. For sure. And again, sometimes, like somebody could get sick. Hey, listen, my, my, my aunt who was supposed to give a speech is no longer going to be able to make it. She got sick. It happens. You know, I had, I think I had four or five people that got sick that week.
[00:03:16] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:03:16] Speaker A: Because obviously I'm married late fall. You got married in the winter. So things like that happen. Those little things are very, very easy to accommodate. Like those are. So don't overthink that either and make sure you do communicate. That's the most important thing. If it's not only on the phone also, it has to be through email. So we have it in writing.
[00:03:31] Speaker B: Number four is you want to sort of confirm those key entertainment moments. I'll give you another example, another change that I had a couple of weeks ago.
The couple was, they obviously were doing a dance like with their parents, like their. Her with her dad, him with his mom. But then they wanted to do something special. I guess they have a kid, a child together, and they wanted to do a special dance there. That was not something that we talked about like the, at the finals meeting.
[00:03:57] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:03:57] Speaker B: So they wanted to add that week of it's being played by like recorded DJ music. So not a big deal. You want to confirm all of those entertainment moments. Another one is, is like sometimes at the finals meeting, things will be up in the air like, gee, you know, I'm going to dance with my mom. I may want to call out my dad to also join. I'm not really sure this and that. So like those moments need to be crystallized by the time the week of happens.
[00:04:20] Speaker A: Okay, so now it's like, well, how do I remember to, to. To communicate all these updates? Well, the great thing about EMG is that our week of call, we have a process in which we go through all of the details for your ceremony, your cocktail hour and your reception. So when we start going through things, it's going to pop up where you don't. If you didn't think about, hey, oh, I forgot about that. Don't worry about it. Because we have a process.
No matter who you're celebrating with, who your event lead is, we have that process to go through every little detail. So those key moments are like your first dance, a family dance, your dance with your parents. Like those little things.
We got you covered. If it does, remember, like a little update for you. That's great. That's why we have those processes in place and why we do it earlier in the week.
[00:05:01] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. And look, the last thing this is, point number five is like, enjoy yourself. Yeah, right. Like, week of. That's very important, is you have to be able to, like, sink into the week and enjoy it. You're going to go through this one time.
There's something really cool about all of your family and friends, your loved ones all coming into town to celebrate you and your fiance and your marriage. And so, like, don't forget to, like, stop and smell the roses.
[00:05:24] Speaker A: Yeah. And you know, you most likely took off of work. Right. And whether that's for multiple days or a couple days before you had the rehearsal dinner, that type of stuff, it's really, really nice to be able to just relax, spend some time with your fiance and let it sink in. And also, many times people are flying in from a lot of places. It's like, you don't really get to spend a lot of time with those people. And it just allows for you to be able to do that. And everything's been planned. You have all the details done, you've confirmed everything. Now it's time to start enjoying the moment and really trying to take a step back and just taking it all in. That is the most important thing.
[00:05:59] Speaker B: And after the wedding, you might be ready for some of those family members to fly back to wherever they came from.
[00:06:03] Speaker A: Exactly.
[00:06:04] Speaker B: That happens as well.
[00:06:04] Speaker A: So if you're getting married on a Saturday, they're gone on Sunday. Like, that's it. I'm outta here. And we're outta here, dude.
[00:06:09] Speaker B: So that's it. And speaking of, we're outta here. We are out of here.
[00:06:12] Speaker A: That was it.
[00:06:12] Speaker B: Conclusion of this series. So congratulations. We hope that it's been a wonderful planning process. And we'll see you here next time on the EMD podcast.
